While this retreat is packed full of learning and working, I wanted it to be just as much of a vacation. After all, a "retreat" is a period of retirement for meditation, in the traditional sense of the word. With that in mind, I have developed the schedule in a way that is filled with learning, crafting, AND relaxing - so you'll leave feeling refreshed, rather than exhausted.
Full schedule will be announced soon!
About your Workshop Instructor
Suzanna SteiN of made in mojave
Hey there! I'm Suzanna!
Born and raised in California, I have always had a love of sunshine. I try to reflect that sunshine and positivity into everything I do.
In 2014 I was diagnosed with Behcet’s Disease, a rare autoimmune disease. As my Behcet’s progresses, it has started to affect my central nervous system causing loss of memory among other things. Because of this, I am SO thankful for the ability to document my favorite memories as they happen to help me remember even the smallest of details. I like to think it turns a less-than-perfect situation into something pretty darn perfect! It is my dream to share happiness with others and remind those struggling that your weaknesses do not define you! No matter what you are facing, tomorrow is another day, and you will make it through it!
I’m a bit of a coffee snob, Harry Potter obsessed, and a lover of animals. I'm silly more than serious, love to laugh, and hate wearing socks. If you want to know more about me, you can visit my personal blog – Noodoso.
In this workshop we’ll cover all things inspiration - where and how to find it, how to translate that inspiration into your projects, the difference between pulling inspiration from something and copying someone’s work, and more!
We’ll also cover topics like how to discover your creative style, get out of a creative rut, small creative practices to do when you’re not feeling crafty, how to practice creative authenticity, and how to get in touch with your creativity after a disconnect.
Scrapping your stash
Learn to scrap your stash by building kits from the items you already have. Plus a bonus lesson on incorporating everyday items in your projects. After the lesson, practice your new skills by building a mini kit at the craft bar & create a project with it!
Mixed Media 101
Learn the basics of mixed media in this 101 course. Everything from the basics of supply introduction and term definitions, to putting your new skills into action with some messy play!
Want to take your paper crafting to the next level? In this workshop, we’ll discuss my favorite and most-used paper crafting tips & techniques, along with fundamental design principles that will help your projects feel perfectly balanced (no matter what type of layout or project you’re creating!)
Stay tuned for sponsors being announced, leading up to the retreat!
